A Personal Reflection on a Global Icon’s Retirement
Some mentors teach you how to publish papers. Rare ones teach you how to think. The truly extraordinary ones transform who you are as a human being.
I feel incredibly blessed to have received mentorship from Professor Jag Sheth of Emory University, a global icon whose wisdom has shaped generations of scholars, and whose recent retirement marks the close of an extraordinary academic chapter.
Prof. Sheth did far more than guide me as a scholar and researcher. He changed how I see people, consumers, markets, cultures, and society itself. Through co-authoring books and research papers with him, I learned that knowledge creation is not just intellectual work, it is a way of life.
Some of my most cherished memories are from summers in Atlanta, working in his office while most people were on vacation. While others rested, we were immersed in ideas, building new knowledge. That, to me, was pure joy, the kind of work driven by passion and purpose.
One lesson from him will stay with me forever: “The best way to learn is to publish and teach.” That philosophy continues to guide my journey as I dive deeply into AI, marketing, and consumer behavior.
Prof. Sheth, thank you feels far too small. You have transformed my life, my mindset, and my aspirations. Every moment spent learning from you was a gift.
Wishing you health, happiness, and continued inspiration always.

P.S. For those interested in the academic fruits of those unforgettable summers in Atlanta and our ongoing collaboration, here is a chronological look at the books we co-authored, bridging foundational consumer behavior with the rise of AI:
